Faith - The determining factor

Excerpts from a sermon preached by my Pastor, Rev. John Roughton, Spirit of Faith Church, Dimapur, Nagaland.

 Matthew 9:27-30 (ESV)
27 And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, “Have mercy on us, Son of David.”
28 When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.”
29 Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.”
30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, “See that no one knows about it.”

Healing is like mathematics. God's power and his willingness are constant. Our faith is the variable.
Your faith should not be passive. It should be active faith, a determined faith.

We don't have more in life because we we don't believe for more. The problem that you may be facing is not your problem. Your problem is a lack of faith. Are you expecting anything from God?

There are 4 types of expectation:

 1. Negative expectation
Some people have more faith in the devil than they have in God.

 2. Neutral expectation
Some people may have their prayers unanswered in the past and have now keep no expectation.

 3. Misplaced expectation
Some people have their expectation on people and not on God.

 4. Positive expectation.
This is the type of expectation you wanna have. The man of faith has seen the future. He can boldly declare the outcome from the beginning
. eg. Apostle Paul on the ship facing a storm.

 Romans 15:13(ESV)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
You need a Holy Ghost face-lift. Sometime you just have to keep smiling.

Joy and peace always accompany real faith.

Hebrews 6: 12 (ESV) so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
